The RAGS TO RICHES event was first started in 2004. The Nagle staff involved in that first year wanted to do something with their classes that exemplified the college motto of ‘For Others’. In its first year about 50 people, (parents and friends) attended a fashion parade of recycled clothes held at the Catholic Centre and approximately $200 was raised for charity.
Since 2004 the project has grown, moving to the QPT and incorporating all disciplines of the Arts at Nagle. The show highlights the skill and creativity of Nagle’s Arts students with fantastic music, dance and drama performances complementing the Wearable Art Fashion Parade.
The charitable nature of the show has continued to enrich the event and remind students of the origins of the night and the College motto of ‘For Others”. Each year a substantial donation is given to the local St Vincent De Paul Society and to date close to $50, 000 has been donated.
A Primary School item is included in the MATINÉE show only. In 2018 Nagle Catholic College are thrilled to have an item from St Francis Xavier Primary School that will be performed during the Matinée concert only.
